Random Reflections Series

I’m starting a “Random Reflection Series” so that I can capture a list of the swirling thoughts and reflections in my head. I have many that can be the genesis of a long form post, but the majority are nuggets that I want to hold onto.

So, here’s my first list (in no particular order):

  • Good quote: “The fastest way to get where you’re going is slowly”

  • Supervising can be tied directly to trust and reliability. Are those two elements there or not? And why?

  • Focus is not talked about enough. In a world of noise, what should I be focusing on? What interruptions are worthwhile and which are a waste?

  • Being vulnerable with someone you trust is golden.

  • Pay attention to what your body is telling you. What happens when I interact with that person, when they speak, when they enter the room or when I eat that thing, don't eat that thing, exercise or not, think with gratitude, ruminate on my worries, listen to that song, watch that YouTube video, consider that political perspective...all of these things and more affect the skin I'm in.

  • A follow-up from the reflection above: Stress will kill you slowly and your body will speak softly over time.

  • A large influx of work emails is the opposite of progress.

  • Good quote: “Discipline is doing the thing you hate like you love it.”

  • Jealousy isn’t talked about enough.

  • We often avoid people who are “difficult.” Examining how we interact, react, and  treat those who are difficult to us is far more important.

  • Does something have to affect you for it to matter? How do we determine what we care and not care about? What does it reveal about ourselves?

More coming soon! Feel free to answer some of my internal questions in the comments.
